Crowds also occupied nearby roads and tried to enter parliament, where the authorities had initially planned the open visitation.

Political Legacy and Community Backing

Although primarily recognized as an opposition figure, Odinga became senior minister in 2008 and also established a political pact with the president last year in a career characterized by changing partnerships.

He generated passionate devotion among supporters, especially in his Luo community based in the country's west, many of whom maintain he was denied the highest office by election irregularities.

Countless of Odinga's mourners, who were unborn in 1991 when Kenya established itself as a multi-party democracy, offered homage to Odinga's work as an advocate.
