Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A circulating conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's biological sex.
Their complaint contends that Owens disregarded any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
